In this episode of New Fashioned Conservatives, two semi-involved Wisconsin guys continue covering the fallout from David Crowley’s “Dirk McGrik” X account. They break down his latest convoluted explanations, which the hosts argue only make the situation look worse.

They also discuss Joel Brennan’s struggles on the campaign trail, noting that according to the far left he can’t even criticize the frontrunners in the Democratic gubernatorial race without being accused of racism.

The main story of the week is the Corey Ruiz shooting in Madison. Ruiz was shot by police during an interaction, but because Madison does not equip its officers with body cameras the public only has a handful of videos to go on. Protesters quickly moved to set up their own autonomous zone, drawing comparisons to Seattle’s CHOP/CHAZ experiment a few years ago. The hosts ask whether Wisconsin is sliding back toward a 2020-style “summer of love” timeline, especially after demonstrators disrupted local events and appear angry enough to escalate further.

For candy, the guys react to the news that Francesca Hong and Mandela Barnes got matching tattoos.
